In the 1990’s, Mauricio Aznar (Pepe Lorente), an Aragonese rocker known as Más Birras, fleeing addiction and creative vacuum, crossing Argentina. There he meets Don Carlos Carabajal (Cuti Carabajal), a forgotten but essential musician of local folklore. Through traditional music and a relationship full of respect and learning, Mauricio rediscover the meaning of songs. The Azul star It tells an escape to the truth, far from the success and near the soul.
Javier Macipe, in his award -winning Prima Opera, dodges the clichés of the music biopic to offer a Road Movie Light and spiritual. With a staging that combines realism and poetry, the film honors Mauricio Aznar – a cult of worship – and investigates on topics such as vocation, loss and artistic resistance. Awarded to the Goya 2025 for the best novel direction and the actor revelation, at the Simon and International Festivals, The Azul star shines like a sincere ode to creative freedom.
