
4th Cycle of conferences ‘Historical Catalan Performers’ / Activities / Visit us / Start
The Library of Catalonia this July hosts the first two conferences of the fourth cycle “Historical Catalan Interpreters”, organized by The Joan Manén Associationentity dedicated to the research, recovery and dissemination of Catalan musical heritage. The aim of the cycle is to highlight the trajectory and contribution of historical Catalan performers by the hand of experts in the field.
The full cycle will consist of four conferences, which will take place on July 15 and 24, September 16 and October 28, 2025, at 7 pm, in the Charity Room of the Library of Catalonia.
Admission is free with prior reservation.

Tuesday, July 15, 2025 At 7pm: “Ricard Viñes, a pianist in the center of the world”, By the professor and musicologist Màrius Bernadó, curator of the year Viñes. Bernadó will bring us closer to the figure of the Lleida pianist Ricard Viñes, emphasizing his key role as a performer committed to the musical avant -garde: he starred in several first auditions and premiered numerous works by contemporary composers.

Thursday, July 24, 2025 At 7pm: “Antoni Brosa, the triumph of excellence”, By the pianist Daniel Blanch, who will bring us closer to the musician Antoni Brosa, one of the Catalan violinists with a more recognized musical career internationally. Integral musician, with a very diversified career, excelled both in the lonely field and in the field of chamber music.

Tuesday 16 September 2025 At 7pm: “The voice of the tenor: evolution throughout history. The Catalan tenors forgotten of the 19th century”, By the musician Miquel Pérez. It will treat the evolution of the tenor voice over time, recovering the memory of forgotten Catalan tenors of the 19th century. It will also help understand why many scores contain seemingly “impossible” passages to sing.

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 At 7pm: “Emili Vendrell, with the light of his look”, By Miquel Pérez. He will bring us closer to the figure of Emili Vendrell, a favorite student of Lluís Millet and recognized tenor, especially prominent in the interpretation of traditional Catalan and zarzuela traditional songs. We will discover an unknown, complete and versatile artist, a Vendrell that will surprise you.
