40 Catalan publishers participate in the stand of the Department of Culture at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 – News


The 77th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fairwhich takes place between October 15 and 19, hosts an important Catalan representation in a stand that, under the motto Catalonia, Land of Books; Barcelona, ​​City of Literaturerepresents literature and the Catalan publishing sector. The stand is part of the line of actions that the Department of Culture carried out to promote Catalan literature and the internationalization of the publishing sector.

The stand, organized by Catalan Institute of Cultural Enterprises (ICEC) through the internationalization mark Catalan Arts; the Ramon Llull Institute (IRL)and the Barcelona City Counciland with the participation of Catalan Language Publishers Associationof Guild of Publishers of Catalonia and of Institute of Balearic Studiesoffers a joint image of the sector and provides professionals with a business space where they can develop their activities at the fair with maximum facilities.

Internationalization of Catalan literature
One more year, the Ramon Llull Institute has arranged some eighty meetings with editors from all over the world to continue promoting the translation of Catalan literature into other languages, consolidate its presence in stable markets and open new opportunities in strategic and emerging countries. The IRL supports international publishing projects through its support programs for the translation, promotion and publication of illustrated works. In the last five years they have been published more than 1,800 translations of original literary works in Catalan.

Coinciding with the celebration of the fair, the October 15 will be inaugurated in University of Frankfurt the exhibition “The Catalan Countries in Frankfurt: language and culture, literature and research”. The exhibition devotes a large part of its space to 40th anniversary of the Catalan Library which houses this German university, the largest Catalan themed library outside the Catalan countries, with a collection of around 35,000 volumes.

The ICEC has published a booklet with all the information of the publishers participating in the fair, which will be distributed among accredited international professionals.

In addition to the publishers accredited in the Catalan stand, they will also attend in Frankfurt 20 publishing groups with their own standamong which are Anagrama, Editorial Casals, ECC Ediciones, Edebé Educación, Grup Planeta, Herder Editorial, Hoaki Books, Lecta, Larousse Editorial, Penguin Random House, Quaderns Crema-Acantilado, RBA, Tusquets Editores and Universitat de Barcelona Edicions. Other Catalan publishers will also work from the stand of the Federation of Editorial Guilds of Spain.
