2nd BIP Barcelona meeting in the ESEM classrooms
From January 27 to 31the ESEM Music Workshop will host a series of activities within the framework of the Blended Intensive Programs (BIP) of the program Erasmus+. These are short and intensive exchange programs that offer an opportunity for international mobility to those students who cannot or prefer to avoid prolonged stays abroad.
The BIP that organizes the ESEM Music Workshop will take the title “Bring On Your Voice. Exploring Ensemble Compositional Tools and Narrative Improvisation» and will work on the fundamental elements around composition, arrangements, direction and execution of own musical pieces, combining part written music and part improvised music. For this, special emphasis will be placed on group interaction, with combos formed from the mix of musicians from the different institutions, to encourage creativity both individually for the musician and in the complete context of the band.
Students from five European musical institutions will participate in this meeting: the Girolamo Frescobaldi Conservatory of Ferrara (Italy)the Latvian Academy of Music (Latvia)the Lusíada Universities (Portugal)the School of Music and Performing Arts, ESMAE (Portugal) and the ESEM Music Workshop. The participants will work with the teachers John Terol, Nestor Gimenez, Pau Ligadas y Luke Casaresof the Taller de Músics, and with the double bassist and professor of the Universidades Lusíada, Massimo Cavalli.
As a result of this musical exchange, students and teachers will offer a series of concerts and jam sessions to show your work. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the music and the creative energy that arises in this type of exchange. In addition, the jam session is open, so anyone can join and participate actively.
