Casa Orlandai celebrates its 18th anniversary with a program full of activities

The Casa Orlandai, a leading cultural and community space in Sarrià, celebrates its 18th anniversary with a week of activities open throughout the neighborhood!

Since its transformation into a cultural center in 2007, the house has become a key meeting point for the neighborhood’s associative and cultural life. It occupies a unique building that has had multiple uses throughout its history: from a private residence to the beginning, the Talitha School, an educational proposal for girls in the Franco era. Later this educational project gave way to the Orlandai School, – which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! – Before becoming a cultural center thanks to the neighborhood mobilization led by the friends of the Orlandai House in 2002.

The facility is part of the Barcelona Civic Centers Network and is managed by the Casa Orlandai Cultural Association (ACCO), a non -profit that promotes cultural, educational and social activities with the active involvement of the neighborhood. 250 individual members and thirty entities are part of the entity. With a diverse and inclusive program, the house has become a nerve center for the socio -cultural revitalization of Sarrià, promoting projects of historical memory, sustainability and popular culture.

In these eighteen years, Casa Orlandai has promoted numerous collective initiatives, fostering cultural creation and social commitment, consolidating itself as a benchmark in the civic management of public facilities.

From the beginning, the program has been structured in cycles, led and energized by neighbors and entities, which have been active for many years such as scientific coffees or literary coffees, the voices of the Republic, the opera between Bambolines, the must -see on Friday, the children’s mornings or the babies cycle, among others. Art and culture have always been present as a driver of social transformation by fostering a critical look.

There are several projects that are energized, promoted or accompanied by the entity such as the Gardenyes Space, Save the garden of Can Raventós, the promotion of the social and solidarity economy, the History Workshop, the SSG Time Bank, or the Spring Festival, among others. He is also currently part of the Activating Committee of Urban Community La shortcra de Sarrià-Vallvidrera.

The anniversary of the house is the most anticipated day of the year, full of beautiful reunion with all of you who have made possible and grown up with this project.

“A celebration with activities for all audiences”

To commemorate this anniversary, Casa Orlandai has organized a special program on the week of April 5, with activities designed for all audiences. The Casa Orlandai Cultural Association invites the neighborhood to participate and enjoy this celebration of the 18 years of community management.

• Poetic Aires celebrates the birthday: TobettaPoetry and Electronic Show.

Saturday 5 April

• 11:00 – 14:00 h: Children’s activities with We step on wood.
• 13:00 h: Classic Vermouth with Jazz Class Jam.
• 14:30 h: Associative paella open to everyone.
• 16:30 h: Quinto of table.
• 19:00 h: Surprise show full of fun.
• 21:00 h: Concert with Golden Beat.
• 23:00 h: PD with Face B.

With this program, Casa Orlandai reaffirms its commitment to the community and invites everyone to participate in a celebration that symbolizes years of culture, coexistence and collective action in the district of Sarrià. We wait for you!
