The Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival (BCN FILM FEST) proposes a selection of films from the international scene related in a broad sense to literature and history.
Following this criterion, the programming of the Official Section is dedicated, preferentially,
to adaptations of literary works, productions with a historical background and biographical films about relevant personalities..
This year, in the 10th edition of the festival, which takes place from April 16 to 24, the Essentials section of the BCN FILM FEST 2026 is dedicated to the centenary of Cinemas Verdi, the festival’s main venue. For this reason, it pays tribute to them with a selection of great films that have passed through its screens in these 100 years of history.
This small, but significant retrospective takes into account practically all the decades of the Verdi’s history, from its beginnings, with the recovery in a specially restored copy for the occasion of the first film shown, to the present day, without forgetting the times when the cinema became one of the popular theaters with double programs in continuous session in Barcelona.
