03/14- 11 a.m. Animated Palestine: “A state of passion”+ colloquium
Animated Palestine is a collective of Palestinian and international animation directors. Our films explore various aspects of Palestinian life under occupation. Faced with genocide, we felt the need to come together as an artistic community to support each other, strengthen ties and spread stories of Palestine: stories of pain, resistance and hope, as an antidote to death and destruction.
Free entry with reverse box office.
**All money raised at this event – cinema tickets and sale of exhibited works – will go entirely to the artists and directors of Gaza**

After 43 harrowing days working tirelessly under constant bombardment in the emergency rooms of Gaza’s Al Shifa and Al Ahli hospitals, British-Palestinian reconstructive surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittahemerged as one of the faces of the Palestinian resistance.
With news footage of him looking pale and shocked echoing around the world, he spoke of a catalog of horrors: from lacerated bodies to amputations without anesthesia, orphaned children with no surviving relatives, and the deliberate attack on medical personnel and hospital facilities.
This was the sixth and most terrible Gaza “war” for Ghassan. Why does he do it? Where do you get the strength to face it again and again? How does this impact your family? How do they manage the risks he takes?
The answer lies simply in a shared passion: Palestine, a passion they express by supporting their dangerous humanitarian work.
Filmmakers Carol Mansour and Muna Khalidi, close friends of the Abu Sittah family, share this same passion. They waited anxiously for Ghassan to leave Gaza, after a long and terrifying overnight journey, to meet him in Amman. Determined to capture his rawest emotions, they started filming him the moment he came through the door.
Following him to Beirut, Amman, London, Kuwait and Dubai, they and he explore their shared State of Passion.
