😄The seminar we hosted yesterday at the Clarà Library, on the figure of Luisa Granero (Barcelona, 1924 – 2012), the country’s first professor of sculpture and last monumentalist sculptor, was a great success. 🗣️The conference was given by Enric Galcerà and Anna Llauradó, son and young man of the sculptor. With the collaboration of the Catalan Institute for Research in Sculpture ICRE 💯Do you know that this year we commemorate the centenary of his birth? 👩Granero was born in Barcelona into a humble family of Andalusian origin. The war and post-war marked his childhood and youth and from a very young age he became interested in sculpture. He began his apprenticeship with the sculptors Enric Monjo and Jaume Otero, making his way in the art world at a time when the female presence was in the minority. In 1964, Granero became the first woman professor of sculpture in Spain, at the School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, and is considered the first professional Catalan sculptor. He was a member of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and the National Sculpture Society of New York. She received multiple recognitions throughout her career, and in 2006 the District awarded her the Women’s Medal of Sarrià – Sant Gervasi @bcn_sstg 📆⌛🌬️As part of the events of the Festa Major de Sarrià, as we already informed you , last Sunday, October 6, his sculpture ‘Rosa dels Vents’ was inaugurated in Joan Reventós Park, a sundial that is an allegory of the constellations that navigators and sailors used to orient themselves at sea in the dark of night. . . #bbcnClarà #esculturacatalana #ICRE
