The Liberal Arts Center opens the doors to other realities
The Liberal Arts Center of the Joan Brossa Foundation has announced the schedule for its fourth season, which will start on September 26 and will last until July 2025. With a total of 24 shows – 18 of which are premieres -, three exhibitions , two facilities and a dozen courses. The new season will be characterized by the fusion of disciplines, the transgression of limits and the connection with the imagination of the poet and artist Joan Brossa.
The program, under the motto “exorcisms”, is built on four main axes: heritage, support for creation, education and research. With proposals ranging from performances and itinerant raves to scenic exorcisms and interactive installations, the Center seeks to explore the potential of the performing and visual arts to awaken new forms of perception and question the established logics of time and space.
Maria Canellesdirector of the foundation’s visual and textual area, has explained that this season will be “full of ghosts and paranormal phenomena”, with the intention of “breaking with the logical relationships of space and time and getting in touch with yesterday and tomorrow”. On the other hand, Georgina Olivewho is making her debut as director of the scenic area, has highlighted the importance of magic this season, a magic that “doesn’t come with tricks, but with a connection to other realities”. Oliva emphasized that the new program wants to “identify what is the gesture that defines Brossa’s way of doing things” in order to “redefine the performing arts just as the artist redefined poetry”. Therefore, this season he proposes to pay tribute to Brossa’s legacy, with the aim of continuing to transgress the limits and inviting the public to participate in a constant dialogue with the arts.
