Starting out of the Maycooperative cycle25 – Women, Work and Dignity – Ateneo

Last week, the opening ceremony in May 2025, which opened the cycle with a clear and necessary proposal: a round table on the labor insertion of women at a social risk. The event was attended by three leading entities in the social field and the care: Arrels Foundation, ARED Foundation and CPS Francesc Palau, who contributed their experience and vision from everyday work with women in vulnerable situations.

The interventions served to share shared diagnostics and challenges, but also brave initiatives that seek to offer new opportunities and real support. The importance of supporting networks, training and decent job accesses as key elements for social inclusion was evidenced. Cooperativism appeared as a tool with transformative potential, capable of generating more human work spaces and adapted to the various realities of women.

The event ended with the screening of a film based on real events. The film portrays the determination of a group of social workers who, in the face of the imminent closure of their center for homeless women, decide to act with all possible resources – and even some unorthodox – not to leave their users. A story that excites and directly appeals to collective responsibility, reminding us that “they deserve it.”

With this event, the Cooperative May 2025 opens a month full of proposals that value the social and solidarity economy as a real and committed alternative. A cycle that invites to reflect, but above all to be involved in the construction of a more just and equitable society. The appointment continues with new activities throughout the territory.
