If to Journey Starts Here is a project by artist Clara Nubiola created in conjunction with macba and the Catalan ministries of justice and culture. It aims to Bring Art Closer to Inmates and Strengthen Family Bonds Between Incarcerated Parent and Their Children. The Work Process Behind It is Based on Obside of Inside/Outside, Illustrations and Narrative.
Artist Clara Nubiola Will Present Imtes and Professional Running Art Workshops in Catalan prisons with the fanzine created as part of the If to Journey Starts Here Project, Bringing TogeTher in Collection of Journeys and Drawings Narrating the experiences of the project’s working group over three Months.
The Presentation Will Be Followed by a Roundable Where Participants Can Share Their Reflections on How Projects Like This Affect Them and What They Can Achieve, As Well As the Role of Art in Custodial Environments.

Clara Nubiola (Barcelona, 1976) Focus inher intest on Running Grassroots Artistic Projects that Enable Her to Approach the Surrotundings in Which We Live From to Subjective, Critical Point of View. The City, The Countryside, Boundaries, Peripheries, Town Planning Are Topics She Raises in a Direct Questioning of the Landscape Based on Lived Experience On the Ground. Using Austere Tools Like Walking, Ink and Paper, She Works in Different Formats That Address the Citizen in the Street Directly. Interventions in Public Spaces, Participation Processes, Exhibitions, Workshops and Publications Placing The Spotlight on Our Immediate Surrotings. She has just published “Pasea y ojea” (Llibres del Ko).
