Popular, diverse and inclusive economy: the V Edition of the Migrant and Diverse Economy Fair is here
Saturday we celebrate the V edition of the Migrant and Diversified Economy Fair: an event that has grown exponentially thanks to the involvement of the organized migrant community.
This edition is the first to be held in Plaça Catalunya in Barcelona. We remember that the first editions took place in the Can Batlló area, in the La Bordeta neighborhood, and that in the last two years it had already been moved to locations such as Plaça Margarita Xirgu or Ronda de Sant Antoni to accommodate the increase of participants.
On this occasion, the nerve center of the Catalan capital will host a new record of projects and economic activities promoted by migrants and other people: a total of 158 proposals from various sectors.
18% percent of these projects are dedicated to the textile field and 18.35% to gastronomy. We will also find leisure and culture, care and health, publishing, education and training projects that represent 8.23% respectively. It should be noted that 48.73% of these projects do not have legal personality due to bureaucratic barriers and the law on foreigners.
At the Fair, in addition to finding more than a hundred economic projects, we will also be able to enjoy different musical performances and a luxury debate table with the participation of Sarata Sonko, Pastora Filigrana, Clara Ávila Peña and Jessika Llantén Castaño and Mohamad Bitari.
At 18.30 in the afternoon it will be time to meet the winners of the Micaela Chalmeta of this year These awards were created in 2017 by theAteneo Cooperative Coòpolisto promote and facilitate the creation of economic projects in a cooperative format that are committed to the transition to a more socially and environmentally fair system. This is the eighth call for the award and in total we add more than a hundred projects that have been presented over the years. Of this, 24 have obtained recognition and 7 have also been recognized in a special way, for their quality or their objective.
