
I la guanyadora és… l’escriptura feta per dones! – Centre Cívic Sagrada Família
With excitement and nerves, this Monday, March 2, the participants of the Short Stories Award – Women’s Stories they were getting closer to the assembly hall. Some accompanied by their relatives, partners and friends. All gathered to hear the verdict of the jury of this award organized by Sagrada Familia Civic Center and the Sagrada Família Library Josep M. Ainaud de Lasarte.
In this 26th editiona total of 248 stories; 21 in the Youth category and 227 in the Adult category. About 100 people attended the awards ceremony, some of them were part of the 24 finalists in the Adult category and the 10 in the Youth category that the jury selected very carefully.
This year the jury was composed of:

· Silvia Leivadirector of the Sagrada Família Civic Centre
The act was presented by the actress Elizabeth Egea and the Silvia Albert Sopalewho read the prize-winning stories. Several authorities also attended Eixample district; the Pedro Diaz VillaverdeMinister of Culture of the Eixample District, la Gemma RamaFeminism and LGTBI technical referent of the Eixample and theAna Karina CaldeiraCouncilor for Feminisms of the Eixample who dedicates a few words of welcome to us.
Elisabet Egea commented that, as every year, in the stories there are themes that cross us as women: gender violence, abortion, maternity, etc. but also less common themes: humor, sex, science fiction or suspense and which show us new ways of imagining and explaining. And this diversity is one of the great riches of this award.
And finally the time has come to know the winning stories of this 26th edition of the Women’s Stories Award.
Susana Vallejo went up to deliver theaccess to the Youth categorya very moving and very well written story, a memory of a great-grandmother in the form of a letter, “The hidden memories“ written by Candela Plana Fernández.
The writer Yaiza Berrocal, said of the First Prize in the Youth category that it was a story that used language in a very subtle way and that built a very minimalist, but at the same time very intense story that tells us about human feelings and relationships. The winner was Aina Girón for the titled narrative “The dish that doesn’t boil“.
Montse Sánchez, representing the director of the Sagrada Família Library and Silvia Leiva, director of the Sagrada Família Civic Centre, presented theaccessed in the Adults category. A story that they liked for its boldness, sensuality, freshness and intimacy, treated with great elegance and great sensitivity. The prize-winning story was “The sheet dance“ of Jana Cuch Guillén.
And Ana Karina Caldeira, Councilor for Feminisms of the Eixample, delivered the First Prize in the Adults category a Evelyn Megias Carrasco author of “black market“a story that captivated them from the first moment and that reminds us, with careful and sensitive writing, that memories are held by the hand, and if we erase the painful ones we also take the beautiful ones, because memory shows us an essential part of who we are.
And to end the evening, we celebrated the power of the word and the magic of finding ourselves all folded around the art of writing.
