Espai Texas consolidates a successful model after eight months of life
The October 27, 2023 the legendary Texas, converted into an energetic and multidisciplinary cultural space, erected a new stage space and a bar as a meeting and union space for the public and the artists. About to start its second season, Espai Texas is successfully consolidating its model of multidisciplinary space by consolidating itself as the ‘house of cinema in Catalan’, a reference theater in the city and a gastronomic space that contributes to enrich the public.
The reception of the first season of the Theater has been overwhelming: more than 46,000 tickets have been sold, reaching almost 75% occupancy. In its second season, 15 proposals have been scheduled, of which 3 are absolute premieres. Family and partner relationships, motherhood and multiple forms of violence against women (obstetrical, sexual, mental health) are some of the transversal topics that the program addresses.
The Theater Texas bet to encourage the production of Catalan authored texts. It will host 3 premieres: a new version of The Archimedes Principlethe most international text of Joseph Maria Mirówhich will be the Theatre’s first production Texas; Neon Handa new local musical from Joan Vázquez i Xavier Masters with direction of Rose Batalla; i Kramigthe new comedy of Marta Buchaca. Following the line marked in its first season, it will continue to bet on great shows that the general public has yet to discover such as, the season opener, (Im)possible family of Carol Lopez, legacy of Daniel J. Meyer, paradise of Sergio Baos, The subway and the sea i Ours ofI Manzanares, dirty of Barbara Mestanza, wasted of The Maieutics, The wife of the third second of Victor Borras or tituba Black Witch and Whore of Denise Duncan. They will also repeat successes from last season as Australia or Murder at the Club ofImpro Barcelonawhich secures the Friday night bet with quality humor.

The new assembly of “Archimedes’ Principle”
The Theater will host the new production of Archimedes’ Principleone of the most internationally successful contemporary Catalan texts, written by Joseph Maria Miró.
The original premiere, directed by Miró, took place at the Sala Beckett in 2012, and its success led to a restaging at the Sala Villarroel in 2013, as well as a Spanish version at the Teatro de La Abadía in Madrid in October 2014. The play’s plot explores contemporary fears and social dynamics through an incident at a children’s swimming club. The play deals with the tensions between the parents, the coach and the club manager when an incident involving a frightened child reveals deep prejudices and social concerns.
The original cast consisted of Albert Auselle, Rubén de Eguia, Rose Batalla i Santi Ricart as protagonists. The play, internationally acclaimed with productions in Germany, Argentina, Greece, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, Russia or Italy, had a very short run in Catalonia: it was seen by just over 7,000 spectators and toured for only 4 towns In 2015 the director Ventura Pons he made a free film adaptation of it under the title The virus of fear. The new cast will consist of Marc Tarrida, Sandra Monclús, Eric Balbas i Jordi Coll.
