[Enfocats 2026] CARME, THE HEART OF THE HOME

From May 7 to June 27, 2026.

Carme Garcia, photographer and resident of the Gothic Quarter, had a photographic career that began in 1935 and ended in 1987.

Throughout these years, Carme had to break down some barriers and abolish many others. Woman, photographer, artist. Thanks to his perseverance and work, today we can enjoy unique photographic documents, linked to the everyday life of ordinary people, people on the street. Neighbors building a neighborhood, far from the monumental and spectacular Barcelona. Through his gaze, you can visit the interior of homes and, at the same time, see the transformation of a city like Barcelona, a transformation experienced from the restlessness of a person who, as Isabel Segura very wisely explained, * “breaks the dichotomy between interior and exterior; between the so-called public, semi-public and private space; between travel and domestic space. Activity, life, passes through all these spaces”.

With this exhibition, we want to honor Carme. We want your work and images to remind us that the greatest value is often found in the simplest things in everyday life.
