🗣️Dialogue around the book ‘You’re an exaggerator. Gender bias and sex in health’ (Raig Verd 2024) by Blanca Coll-Vinent and Isabel Muntané. 👉A collaborative project between different hospitals, doctors, with the aim of correcting inaccuracies in medical research, and updating processes and practices to bring them closer to more individualized care 🗓️ Monday, November 11th ⌚️ 6.30 p.m. 🏛️ Jaume Fuster Library 🏥 Medical practice does not escape the androcentric view that has considered the male sex the universal referent of studies. Bias cuts across all medical fields, from research and innovation to diagnosis and treatment. Criteria and protocols persist in medicine that may be inappropriate for people who do not identify as men. The male medical model is biased and omits part of the medical case, but it continues to apply to everyone and can cause unwanted consequences for the physical and mental health, especially of women and other people with different expressions of sex and gender. 🤝A project resulting from the collaboration of four hospitals: Vall d’Hebron University Hospital, Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital, Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital and Barcelona Clínic Hospital. 💬Participating: – Blanca Coll-Vinent, internist and emergency physician.
