Delivery of the Baldiri 2025: a party of the arts and education

Last Sunday, June 1, we celebrated the delivery of the 47th edition of the Baldiri, the annual prizes with which the Carulla Foundation promotes the promotion of the arts to education. At the event, which took place at the Terra de l’Espluga Museum in Francolí, we learned about the winning project of the “Transformer School” category: the Can Vila Special Education School of Special Education. In total, € 44,000 were distributed in prizes.

In this call a total of 96 projects from all over the Catalan Countries. Xavier López, a teacher and jury of the awards, emphasizes the diversity and quality of the proposals: “We have seen projects that cover from pedagogical innovation in the teaching of the arts to initiatives that promote the Catalan language through very creative and participatory methodologies”. Of all of them, 28 schools have been awarded: 8 in the category “Arts and Language” and 20 in “Experiences”.

According to the jury, the level of the winners has been exceptionally high. “The projects awarded not only stand out for artistic quality, but also for pedagogical coherence and the impact they have on the educational community,” argues Carol Giralt, director of the El Puig Cooperative School. At the same time, López adds that “this social sensitivity and this commitment to the multilingualistic of the arts seems fundamental to me and is a very positive sign of where education is moving in our country.”

This year, the prize for the “Transformer School” category has been received by the Municipal School of Special Education Can Vila. Baldiri awards recognize the Transformative arts potential in classrooms. Culture and artistic expression are a prominent tool with which to enhance the development of children, both in terms of creativity, critical thinking or emotional intelligence. However, the promotion of the arts to education has not received the attention and resources that would be used by public institutions: “ A significant work is needed to give strength and value to these learning, which, by historical tradition, have been so relegated to our resumes, ” says Codines. However, the jury acknowledges that over the last few years, The sector has begun to become aware of the need for art education. López argues that “this awareness must be translated into more resources, more training for teachers and a greater presence of the arts in the curricula from the earliest stages.
