Coòpolis has a new protocol against violence in the workplace

From Coòpolis we are convinced that working for violence-free environments means constantly questioning and revising our learned attitudes and not taking anything for granted, not even with regard to the safety of the spaces in which we live, work or enjoy ourselves.

While we are aware of the road we have to travel, we also want to celebrate and share the steps we are taking to strengthen safety and well-being in our work environment, and specifically for the space we share with the more than 40 entities that, from one way or another we are part of the collective project that is Coòpolis. For this reason, we have been working internally for a whole year to design and deploy a protocol plan for the prevention, detection, approach, monitoring and reparation of situations of sexist, sexual or LGTBIA+phobic violence in Coòpolis.

What is this plan?

It is a guide that serves to prevent, detect and address cases of violence within organizations. It defines the roles and actions to respond to a case of aggression or violence in a specific context, in the case of Coòpolis, in all those spaces and time that the people who are part of it dedicate to the project.

How are we doing?

The development of a protocol plan for the prevention, detection, approach, monitoring and reparation of situations of sexist, sexual or LGTBIA+phobic violence is a long process, which involves a high level of dedication and involvement from all the entity It is a document of collective reflection that everyone must assume as their own.

Over the course of the last few months, we have met on several occasions the people who were appointed to be part of the protocol working group that are part of the entities La Tregua, Opcions, Trama and Associació Coòpolis. The Working Group, in addition to being an active part of this space, has also been responsible for transferring the debates to the entities so that they could all participate effectively in the process. To work on this protocol we are accompanied by a team of professionals from the Equilàtera cooperative. Thanks to their dynamism we have identified the points of debate, the work and the methodology that best suited Coòpolis’ own structure.

In addition, all the entities of Coòpolis participated in a training given by the colleagues of the same cooperative that is supporting us in matters of prevention, detection and action in cases of violence in the workplace.

And then what?

Finally, you need to put it into practice! The protocol is an action guide that must be adjusted to the reality of the entities and that must train spaces and people to be able to prevent, detect and deal with situations of internal violence in order to eradicate them and repair

This process, in reality, has no end, since it is essential to be able to keep track of the evolution and deployment of the plan, and it is necessary to review the planned actions and the proposed actions at least every 4 years.
