Next Thursday, January 30, at 8.30 pm, a concert in tribute to the Mexican pianist Alicia Muñiz will take place in the Llevant room of the Library of Catalonia.

The French Chapel of Barcelona, ​​directed by Cecilia Velázquez, will participate; the singers Karen Gardeazábal (soprano) and Augusto García (bass); the pianists Pia Zanca and Carlos Reyes, and the set of Mexican chapel strings. The repertoire will be focused on Mexico and musicians near the teacher Alicia Muñiz, such as Rodolfo Halffter, Faustino Velázquez and Master Querol.

Alicia Muñiz is an iconic figure in music in Mexico, where she has been a professor at the National Conservatory and a pioneer in the research of ancient music.

It is also closely linked to Catalonia, where it currently resides. Widow of the composer and musicologist Miquel Querol, he has donated his husband’s collection to the Library of Catalonia.
