“City with compass, think flamenco”
The Musicians Workshop presents the 31st edition of the Flamenco City festivalin complicity with his city and the flamenco scene. Under the motto “Ciudad con compás, Think Flamenco”, this festival unfolds its activities in various rooms and theaters throughout Barcelona. Flamenco is and has always been an artistic expression, a field of intimate and collective reflection that moves communities and publics around life, love or death; a nudity that transcends his letters. Once again, the festival reaffirms that flamenco is not only danced, played or sung: it is thought about, taught and written about. It is a living art, a cultural sign of universal understanding.
From October 17 to 27the Ciutat Flamenco will surprise you with some of the most outstanding numbers of current flamenco and the emerging generation. This edition maintains its innovative character and generates its own large-scale production in collaboration with other musical institutions in the city. In turn, with the focus on the flamenco guitar, it makes room for the International Competition, now in its second edition, and consolidates the International Flamencoology and Flamenco Pedagogy Congress in its sixth edition.
Beloved people and great artists will live on in the memory of the Musicians’ Workshop, as well as in the creative work of many. With longing, we all remember a Thais Hernandez and the festival pays tribute to this enormous singer.
The sum of all these themes and proposals turns the Ciutat Flamenco into a vibrant tribute to the musical tradition in Barcelona, and a celebration of flamenco in all its forms. Ciutat Flamenco continues its legacy as a cultural event that transcends inside and outside our borders.
