The Ramon Llull Institute promotes the first International Forum of Translators of Catalan Literaturea project of great scope and high strategic value for the cultural and linguistic policy of the country. Thanks to the work of translators, authors like Irene Solà, Montserrat Roig or Víctor Català coexist in the international literary universe with Toni Morrison, Natalia Ginzburg or Emily Brontë.
The initiative places translators at the center of the cultural and literary debate, making clear their fundamental role in the diffusion of Catalan culture. The translators act as qualified prescribersable to identify relevant works, contextualize them and facilitate their reception in other languages. His work not only adapts texts, but also creates cultural bridges, establishes complicities between international publishers and contributes to the projection of Catalan authors and thinkers in different markets.
The event, which will take place from November 23 to 26, 2026will make Barcelona the meeting point for translators of Catalan literature from all over the world for the first time.
During four days, the forum will bring together a 150 professionals coming from different countries and will combine plenary sessions, practical workshops, sectoral debates, meetings with authors and editors and cultural activities open to the public with the objective of updating knowledge about literary trends, emerging technologies and good practices, promoting the exchange of experiences and strengthening the international network.
The Forum wants to be a catalyst for new translations, projects and alliances between the Catalan literary and publishing system and the international one.
