Montse Colomé, Pere Seda and Sílvia Batet dance in Texas


The theater Texas get yours back this winter contemporary dance cycle which advocates different views on the body as a tool for creation, memory and resistance. Del 30 January to 9 March 2026the cycle brings together four scenic proposals and a thinking activity that address issues such as active ageing, generational identity, the relationship with popular tradition or the transformation of the female body.

A day with the Gracian choreographer Montse Colomé

The cycle starts on Friday January 30 with LEAVE MEa duet performed by Francis Bravo i Montse Colometwo creators from the same generation who have been on stage for decades. The piece starts from the sound of tin cans to turn it into movement and play, and is conceived as an entertainment in the key of dance that claims the pleasure of dancing beyond age and productive logics. The show focuses on the mature, active and creative body, and dialogues with an analog generation that defends physical presence in an increasingly audiovisual world.

It will then host the talk The age of the bodya conversation that expands the stage experience towards thought and health. The meeting brings together the choreographer and researcher Carmelo Salazarthe psychologist Susan Perez —specialist in the benefits of dance and body expression— and the psychiatrist Teresa Perezconsultant in aging and culture. The session approaches the body from a transversal perspective that connects artistic practice, well-being, mental health and active ageing.

‘Celebration’

The same day culminates with CELEBRATIONa solo of Montse Colome conceived as a spoken dance and a celebration with the public. The show covers sixty years of artistic career to reflect on identity, maturity and the passage of time in a life dedicated to movement. The piece claims the slowness, the process and the need to give time to what you want to explain, moving away from the constant urgency that marks the present.

Tradition, identity and dissent with Pere Seda and Sònia Arias

The cycle continues on days January 31 and February 1 with SELF HATEa proposal from the company The Draft created and performed by Peter Seda i Sonia Ariaswhich starts from traditional dance and music to shake them up from the present. The show focuses on the contradictions of living professionally in popular culture in a precarious and little-recognized context, and bluntly addresses feelings such as guilt, shame and even hatred associated with roots.

‘self loathing’

Based on the personal and artistic reunion of the two performers – trained in music and dance and linked from an early age to popular associationism -, SELF HATE it becomes an open reflection on identity, belonging and cultural class in a globalized society. The piece raises uncomfortable questions about what it means today to vindicate tradition, how popular culture is politically instrumentalized and why what is part of the collective heritage is often socially neglected. The show has the participation of Jessica Pulladrag queen that introduces a layer of reading linked to dissidence, the performativity of the genre and the re-signification of traditional imaginaries from a contemporary and non-normative point of view.

Change, strength and transformation with the company Sílvia Batet

The cycle closes on March 9 with ERCÁSa show directed by Silvia Batet which focuses on transformation and resilience through three constantly changing female bodies. The piece invites the viewer to look at the body from another perspective: not as a fixed form, but as a living space, capable of adapting, resisting and reinventing itself.

‘Ercás’

Without the need for explicit stories, ERCÁS he builds a visual and physical universe that speaks of growth, mutation and identity. The bodies are transformed in front of the public and go from fragility to strength, from stillness to movement, to connect with issues very present in the contemporary debate, such as the role of the female body, the pressure on the image or the ability to change throughout life. A show that celebrates the body in all its forms and stages, and as an invitation to rethink it from sensitivity, freedom and constant transformation.
