EXHIBITIONS

Photo exhibition from October 30 to December 5.

A project by George Ramos.

“I was 14 years old when a man took something that belonged to me on court 3 of Deportivo Xochimilco, in Mexico City. I went out on my bicycle. I came back wounded, but in silence. I tried to return home, but I got lost on the way, in me. I didn’t know how to get back. Not in my body, not in my voice. For 22 years I kept silent after sexual abuse.”

“Today I return with a camera. No longer as a confused teenager, but as a survivor. Each image is born from that wound. This series is not an answer: it is an open scar that found form in the image. LOSS does not seek comfort, but a look. It is the trace of a voice that, finally, dares to say: this happened to me. Perhaps, on this journey, we can find together something that you too have lost.”

Place: Ruinas Room.

Photo exhibition from October 30 to December 5.

A project by Dasha Koen.

This project explores the self-portrait as a visual poem of self-contemplation, an eternal search for answers about one’s own magic and the magic of this universe.

A perfect accomplice for this process is a mirror, an external organ of an artist capable of observing and reflecting the physical point, capturing beauty and questioning the universal laws of our world.

Self-reference as a unique instrument for practicing evanescence. Playing by the rules of reality. Expand and shrink. Appear and disappear. In search been in between. The state of ether. Between being there and not being there.

Place: Sala Foyer.

Photo exhibition from October 30 to December 5.

A project by Luisa Dörr.

Bolivian polleras, voluminous skirts commonly associated with the indigenous women of the plateau, were for decades a symbol of uniqueness and the object of discrimination. Now, a new generation of female skateboarders in Cochabamba are sporting them as an emblem of resistance.

Imilla means “girl” in Aymara and Quechua, the two most widely spoken languages in Bolivia, where more than half of the population has indigenous roots. The nine women who are currently part of the ImillaSkate group only wear skirts to skate. Knee-length and paired with sneakers, these skirts symbolize the decision not to deprive oneself of one’s culture. Through this practice they transmit the message of inclusion and acceptance of diversity.

Place: Espai Golfes.

This exhibition at the Golfes space is possible thanks to a collaboration between the International Photography Festival Association (IPFA) and the Biennale della Fotografia Femminile in Mantova (Italy).
