The 9th Poetic Translation Meeting will analyze fragments of works by Jesús Castro Yáñez, Jaume Coll Mariné and Lizar Begoña. The poems presented will later be translated into several European languages - such as German – thanks to the collaboration of translators from Germany, Italy and Spain.
Weiden will bring together creators from very diverse trajectories, who explore with their texts new ways of Basque, Galician and Catalan literature and poetry, and who use experimentation with language both to open new poetic paths and to intervene in the social space.
The participating translators are Eduard Bartoll Teixidor, Marcello Giugliano, Constanze Gräsche, Usoa Olea Bernaola, Pablo Regueira Piñeiro and Carsten Sinner.
This workshop is organized by the Department of Socio-Traductology and Applied Linguistics and the Ibero-Romance Department of the Institute of Applied Linguistics and Translation at the University of Leipzig. This year it receives the support of the Ramon Llull Institute, the Etxepare Basque Institute, the Marià Villangómez Chair of Catalan Studies at the University of Leipzig — occupied in 2025 by Oana-Dana Balaș — as well as the Xunta de Galicia.
