Meeting of residence spaces of the Moving Identities project in Hellerau
Last week, from Nau Ivanow, we were part of the Meeting of residence spaces that we are part of the project Moving Identitiesfunded by Creative Europe. The meeting was at Hellerauthe majestic German residence space in Dresden.
This meeting is part of theEcuador of the Triennial European project and had the goal of Review the past and future of the project And how it influences and crosses the institutions that lead him and the artists who participate.
It was also an opportunity to deepen in topics like the Management of projectsLa sustainability and the Code of conduct We want to guarantee all the people involved in this regard.
To do this, on the first day we carried out “The Field Workshop” based on a card game designed and accompanied by Pauline Payen, a French artist resident in Hellerau, who guided us to an internal reflection on how we work and what priorities we have in cultural centers and with our relationship with artists.
In the afternoon, we reflected on the ecological, economic and personal sustainability of cultural projects by the advisory entity of Moving Identities “Sustainable Culture Now”. We talked about the importance of working sustainable aspects from artand as the Artistic perspective is key To deal with issues as key as eco -sustainability, especially in public spheres and policies.
It also helped us to collect resources, such as the Theater Green Bookthe various practices and studies of Julie’s Bicycle focused on climate justice; and reflect on decolonial ecological practices. In fact, some benchmarks like these have also served to Mireia Giraldezfrom the company the motherto create the Sustainability Guide for Artistic Productionswhich we will soon share in the Ivanow ship.
On the second day we did a workshop to rethink a possible “code of conduct”, and was led by Nora Amin, an Egyptian artist and dancer, who proposed to deepen this concept, his need and implementation. Through the theater exercises of the Oppressed, the session focused on reflecting on how and why the need for such a document, on which nomenclatures are the most appropriate and how it can be worked on in the various spaces.
We talked about generate and maintain safe spacesof the importance of giving nothing for granted, of the cultural diversity and references, expectations and frustrations. Of how, from cultural institutions, we have the Liability to inform us, educate and listen to other looks In order not to exclude anything from what the globality of the sector needs.
Some of the conclusions we arrived at were:
- The importance of taking time to understand contexts and people.
- Do less and think more about everything we do.
- Use simple and understandable language for a wider range of people.
- Have a lively, consensual and shared glossary, reviewed by various voices and perspectives.
- Be open to change, accept transformation.
- Do not give anything of course, accept that there are very diverse realities.
- Value equity, beyond equality.
With all this, we did a last projection exercise, imagining possible future, because as Nora Amin reflected: “Imagination is the first step towards reality. If we can’t even imagine it, we’ll never make it possible. “
