03/20 – 7 p.m. Opening: PROVISIONAL TERRITORY by Xavier Mamano

From March 20 to May 3, 2025.

A project of Xavier Mamano

Between Gavà and Castelldefels, forests and fields spread across the territory. Now for whom, now for there, some isolated building, or just its trace. A territory that has a provisional character. According to the planning, 27% of the area will be transformed into residential buildings. These photographs are a look at the moment before the possible change.
The set of images, beyond the sum of anecdotes, aim to transport within this space. Feel the heat, the threat of rain, the wind in the trees, the coming night. Everything close to two urban centers where we can take shelter.

Large and small power lines cross the territory. Paths and roads draw traces that surely lead us to civilization. Guess we’re close.
Lots of people pass by, some walk, others bring their dog, we see another running, or they simply walk away from the urban fabric. We also find traces of fauna and wild boars their own paths.

This exhibition invites reflection on the contrast between progress and conservation. In the present of this of the images there is no change that will come sooner than later. But you can see transformations from the past that have affected the territory, ruins of farmhouses,
demolished industrial buildings, and the patient and constant nature that step by step has re-conquered the abandoned lands.

Opening: March 20 at 7 p.m.
